I’ve been seeing a lot of posts and memes on social media about rejecting the notion of ending the year strong and instead leaning into taking care of yourself. Easing out of the year. That is an idea that resonated deeply with me. So I’m using this post as a farewell to 2023 because, with respect, I’m done. It’s been a tough year and I’m taking my own Re-Work advise and prioritising rest, play and creativity where I can over the next few weeks.
An end of the year post at the end of November? What’s going on you ask? Well the best thing about running your own business is you make the rules. And for my business that means I make the rules and I’ve decided that December is a month for reflection and planning as much as is possible within the context of project work for my clients. This note is mainly a nod to a year that has a lot of ups and a few more downs than I would have asked for—but that is all the making of a great life story so I’ll take the lessons and the realizations and the hard stuff with the good.
This note gives me a chance to focus on life a bit more. While my home city gets frosty with cold and the streets a little more merry and twinkly, I’m packing up and organizing life so I can head back to Mexico City for the winter again (more on that in another note).
This note is also to say thank you. For spending the year with me, reading every week, sending notes and sharing your thoughts in the comments. I appreciate every single one and am so glad to get to share my adventures in storytelling with you.
While I won’t be sending weekly notes through December, I do have a couple of fun things planned that I will be sharing in the coming weeks and special treats for my paid subscribers (thank you if that is you).
So consider this note a, see you soon. Wishing you a…
…if you celebrate and the very best of the season. I promise to be in your inbox again before the new year. I hope this year of notes has been valuable for you and as fulfilling to read as it has been to write and share. Feel free to send me a note over the next few weeks with any thoughts or questions (just reply to this email). Looking forward to sending treats and diving into 2024 rested and inspired.
Cheers🥂,
Chantaie
