This is Adventures in Storytelling your weekly note with resources, insights, and actionable tools for better communication through storytelling. What I learned during the adventure this year.
You can always go home, wherever home may be for you right now, and there’s no shame in that.
Rest AND recharge. Yes, rest when you need it, but also do the things that energize you.
Movement and (other people’s) babies truly are healing. Engage with both.
Sometimes firing the client is the best path for everyone.
COVID is not to be played with.
Healing takes time and patience and self acceptance.
Growth may be hard, but it doesn’t have to be painful if you pair it with acceptance.
Grace and self compassion are essential for survival and a life well enjoyed.
Anger and outrage are secondary emotions and a waste of generative energy
Asking for help and receiving it gracefully is a special kind of strength.
Letting go is the best way to be able to receive.
Community > Everything. Yes, we can do hard things, but they’re easier when we do them with help. Because you really can’t do this life thing alone. And that’s maybe a good thing.
Martha Stewart will always and forever be the reigning queen.
I’m sure there are more, but these are the ones that stand out. What about you? What did 2024 reveal to you about yourself and the your experience of the world this year?
A Story Well Told
I can’t recommend this yet, but I’m finally watching the Martha Stewart documentary on netflix this weekend. I was and have been a fan simply for the no bullshit (honestly, sort of mean) approach to things. Like honestly, being best friends with Snoop Dog and telling people to basically fuck off when they need to hear it? Respect.
